As 2021 drew to a close, I wrote about what I hoped would eventuate in the business world moving into 2022. I’ve taken a moment to revisit my predictions in comparison to where we are now.
Predominantly, the tough labour market continues to be an issue for every industry. Since the borders reopened late last year a lot of professionals on skilled migration visas have left the country, and with a huge backlog of people waiting for their visas to be approved there simply aren’t enough workers coming in to fill the gaps.
While some pressure is starting to be released based on the upward trajectory of salaries as some tech businesses implement retrenching, it is continuing to prove difficult to attract and retain staff across the board.
